The Juicy Box - Kitchen Nightmares Update

On this week's episode of Kitchen Nightmares, Gordon Ramsay is in Brooklyn, New York to help out the restaurant The Juicy Box.  The full name is The Juicy Box Juice Bar & Lounge and it is a Haitian-American restaurant and bar.  The Juicy Box has apparently been chaotic after the owner's children prioritized partying over the success of the business. 

Kitchen Nightmares visited The Juicy Box in June 2023 to film the episode, and I searched around the Internet to read stories, comments and reviews about The Juice Box to get an idea of how the restaurant is doing since Gordon Ramsay visited, and here is what I found (note - all reviews are post Kitchen Nightmares):




Positive Reviews:

• "Great vibes, live music, and top tier menu. The owner is very personable and inviting.."
• "I walked in to get my mom and i some food for her dinner on Saturday and it end up being an R&B Brunch. I don't recall the young mans name but he was the host, Tall and with a beautiful voice. I did not know they also hosted music events. The food was delicious and the event we sat in on was very fun. We will be back again."
• "From the time you enter The Juicy box, they make you feet so welcomed. they have amazing food, music, and drinks.Try everything on the menu you won't be disappointed."
• "I went for Toco Loco Sundays and had a great time. From the dj to the food to the vibes, it was perfect. The rasta pasta was so good and the vibes were amazing."
• "Love the decor of this spot not to mention the amazing food! I’ve had their Tasso and black rice and it was amazing!..Will be coming back for sure"

• "The food was extremely good!!!!!!! It was my first time there and I will be returning. The meat was seasoned very well. It wasn’t over fried. It contained a crispy exterior and tender interior. The fried green plantains had a hint of ripen sweetness (Caribbeans know what I mean lol). The black rice 🤤. Would post a photo but its all gone hahah."

Negative Reviews:

• "They kept screaming out "Taco Tuesday" but didn't have any taco deals (go figure) lol the food was just terrible I've had leftovers better than this. I ordered the Stew Chicken....Had the nerve to Throw a Haitian flag on the food like it's capture the flag! Food had absolutely no taste. They charged me $10 just to come inside. The music was good tho the dj was definitely spinning ! That's probably the only thing I liked because even the drinks tasted like salt"
• "Absolutely disgusting! I ordered the salmon sandwich with sweet potato fries. First, My food arrived cold. Then the salmon burnt and it was so thin and tiny that it literally took up the middle of the bun. It looked more like trout instead of salmon. Oh I forgot to mention that they forgot to send my fries, so all I had was this lousy sandwich that I paid a whopping $30bucks for. I would of enjoyed a Macdonald's filet of fish more than this sandwich. Complete disappointment and waste of hard earn money. Please don't make the same mistake I did by trying out this place. Spend your money elsewhere."

Conclusion:

The reviews for The Juicy Box Juice Bar & Lounge has been mostly positive since the Kitchen Nightmares makeover. A lot of the reviews talk about events at the restaurant/bar and complement the atmosphere, bartenders, food and drinks. There are a few negative reviews that talk about bad food. So the reviews on the food are mixed and it seems like people go there more for the events. The Juicy Box seems to have more of a bar atmosphere which is not typical of the restaurants Gordon Ramsay usually tries to help.  The success of The Juicy Box seems to be tied to the different events they have at their establishment.
